Hairy Landings

I thought I'd get myself a little closer to the prize and jump over to Mariposa. Well the wind in California today was 26 knots and that makes flying, especially landing, a bit of an adventure. When there's no alternative runways you just have to float in sideways and keep all your toes crossed. I got a bit lost leaving and ended up having to put down at Johnson Field in Aubrey CA which is no more than a patch of grass in the foothills. I got my bearings and headed to Mariposa o68 which showed as KMPI on my chart. Must have misread that one. The landing in Mariposa was one of the worst I've ever made but somehow managed to crab in and get it back on terra firma.
